Armenian president most frequently cited politician by local media

Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan topped the list of most frequently cited politicians by local mass media in 2011, according to MediaGid, the first Armenian automatic news processing and handling system.

YEREVAN, January 31, /ARKA/. Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan topped the list of most frequently cited politicians by local mass media in 2011, according to MediaGid, the first Armenian automatic news processing and handling system. Mediagid coordinator Armen Martirosyan told a news conference Monday that he was quoted in a total of 8,038 news reports.
The second most popular political figure was prime minister Tigran Sarkisian (4.066), who was followed by Nagorno-Karabakh president Bako Sahakian (3,159), Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbnadian (2,090) and defence minister Seyran Ohanian (1,393).
The popularity rating of show business representatives was topped by famous French Armenian singer Charles Aznavour, who was followed by singer Emmi, film director Harutyun Khachatrian, singer Hayko and musician Jivan Gasparyan.
The popularity rating of sportsmen was topped by chess player Levon Aronian, Argentinean Armenian tennis player David Nalbandian and national soccer team head coach Vartan Minasian. The most frequently cited company was VivaCell-MTS telecom, that was followed by ArmenTel telecom, Ameriabank, Nasdaq OMX stock exchange and HSBC Bank Armenia.
Political news were most popular, they were viewed 65,000 times. Mediagid handles now over 1200 pieces of information daily in Armenian Russian and English languages.
