Armenian prime minister has highest approval rating
YEREVAN, August 23. /ARKA/. According to a national survey, conducted by Sociometer polling center, Armenian prime minister Karen Karapetyan’s approval rating is 60%. The findings of the survey embracing 5,500 people across the country, were unveiled today by the head of the polling center Aharon Adibekyan. Speaking at a news conference Adibekyan said Karapetyan’s approval is based on three points: his ability to solve national tasks, the belief that he can do it, and the conviction that he seeks justice.

Adibekyan said that the same survey found that the approval rating of Gagik Tsarukyan, a wealthy businessman and head of Tsarukyan parliamentary block, is 20%. The incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan’s approval rating is 10%, while the approval rating of other politicians is less than 1%, Adibekyan said.

In 2018 when Serzh Sargsyan’s second and final term terminates, Armenia, which has now the so-called semi-presidential form of government, will switch to parliamentary form of government. In 2018, the new president with dramatically curtailed powers, will be chosen by the parliament, while the prime minister who will be vested with the highest authority, will be nominated by the party that wins parliamentary election.-0-
