Austrian parliament’s resolution condemns Azerbaijan's ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh

YEREVAN, October 20. /ARKA/. The Austrian Parliament on October 19 unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian Embassy in Austria reported.
Armenian Ambassador to Austria Armen Papikyan took part in the Parliament’s session as a guest of honor.
Many MPs condemned Azerbaijan, calling on the Austrian Federal Government to support Armenia and the forcibly displaced people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The resolution, which was supported by all five parliamentary factions, calls on the federal government "at all international platforms and bilateral discussions to condemn Azerbaijan's military actions, which have led to the mass exodus of more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh."
The resolution emphasizes the importance of protecting the rights of ethnic Armenians remaining in Nagorno-Karabakh and those who wish to return to Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the implementation of the rulings of the International Court of Justice regarding free movement along the Lachin corridor.
The Austrian Federal Government is also called upon to participate in ensuring free and unhindered long-term access of international humanitarian organizations to Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the comprehensive protection of Nagorno-Karabakh's cultural property and churches.
The resolution also calls for the provision of the necessary funds to Armenia, as a priority country for Austrian Development Agency, to further stabilize the humanitarian situation. -0-
