Exit poll: five parties to enter Armenian National Assembly

YEREVAN, May 6. /ARKA/. An exit poll conducted by Gallup International shows that five parties will enter the next Armenian parliament. They are the Republican Party of Armenia, which, according to the exit poll, has received 44.44% of votes, the Prosperous Armenia has received 28,81%, Orinats Yerkir (the Country of Law) 6.16%, Zharangutiun (Heritage) 5.92% and Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutiun 5.18%.

The Armenian National Congress, a coalition of radical opposition parties, has won 6.33%.
The exit poll was conducted at 131 polling stations and 20,000 people were asked which party they had voted for.
“It is already clear that the Republican Party of Armenia and Prosperous Armenia are favorites,” Aram Navasardyan, head of Gallup International’s offcie in Armenia, said in an interview with Armenia TV Channel.
“As for Armenian National Congress bloc, Zharangutiun, Orinats Yerkir and Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutiun parties, 40% of voters who refused to answer to the questions may impact a great deal the results of these elections.”
Under the Armenian Electoral Code, parties need to score 5% of votes and blocs 7% for entering the parliament.
Polling stations closed at 20:00. According to the latest report that came at 17:00, 1,300,117 or 51.53% of those eligible to vote visited polling stations. -0--
