French President may visit Armenia in the autumn

YEREVAN, May 9. /ARKA/. French President Emmanuel Macron may visit Armenia, French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies said in an interview with Radio Liberty's Armenian-language service.
According to him, this issue is being discussed with the Armenian authorities. Earlier, during his visit to Paris, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan invited Macron to visit Yerevan to attend a gala concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of famous French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour.
"We are discussing the possibility of the visit with the Armenian authorities. Of course, the 100th anniversary of Charles Aznavour is a very attractive event," the ambassador said.
He added that the visit has not yet been approved and work on the issue is still underway.
"We have initiated defense cooperation with Armenia - this is something new in our relations, which is gaining momentum," Olivier Decottignies said.
The ambassador noted also that over the past few months a number of agreements have been concluded between the two countries with three objectives - providing Armenia with defensive weapons to protect its population, its territory and its sovereignty; providing training for the Armenian Armed Forces in Armenia or in France; and advising the Armenian Defense Ministry.-0-
