YEREVAN, March 14. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as reported by the Armenian government’s press service.
The Prime Minister informed the Russian President about the agreement on the text of the draft "Treaty on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan" and the completion of negotiations regarding its approval.
Other issues related to regional and bilateral relations were also discussed.
On the Peace Process Between Armenia and Azerbaijan
On March 13, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the approval of the draft Treaty "On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan" and the completion of negotiations on its approval. The Ministry stated that the document is ready for signing and that Yerevan is prepared to begin consultations with Baku on the timing and location of the signing.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on March 13 that the current version of the draft peace treaty with Azerbaijan could be considered a mutually acceptable compromise for Armenia. He explained that two points of the draft treaty, on which the parties had previously failed to reach an agreement and have now found a compromise, involve the non-deployment of third-country forces along the entire Armenia-Azerbaijan border, as well as the mutual withdrawal of claims filed against each other in international courts and the non-implementation of actions against each other. These two points of disagreement were also previously mentioned by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
