Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited today the ministry of foreign affairs to introduce the newly-appointed minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan to the staff.

YEREVAN, May 15. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited today the ministry of foreign affairs to introduce the newly-appointed minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan to the staff.  

Pashinyan was quoted by the government press office as saying that Armenia’s diplomatic corps is one of the well-established government agencies in the country adding also that it enjoys the confidence of citizens. 

He thanked also the former minister Edward Nalbandian for his service in this capacity. He told the ministry’s staff that his decision to choose Mnatsakanyan as a replacement for Nalbandian was to ensure the smoothness of political changes in the ministry and the diplomatic corps. 

‘I think that serious work awaits us in the near future, since there are serious issues on Armenia's foreign policy agenda, which are of vital importance. The development and security of Armenia, the international authority depends on our position on these issues,” Pashinyan said.

Pashinyan said also that at present Armenia’s international image is quite high, and it can translate into achievements in international politics. The prime minister stressed that the diplomatic corps should be kept untouched by political changes if possible.

Mnatsakanyan expressed gratitude to the prime minister for the confidence and noted that under the leadership of Nalbandian, the diplomatic corps has raised their professional capabilities and potential.

"I understand all the existing challenges, but I feel confident and strong thanks to the great team. Based on our great potential, I am confident that we will jointly advance Armenia’s foreign policy agenda," Mnatsakanyan said. 

Before his appointment as foreign minister Mnatsakanyan served as Armenia’s permanent representative to UN.-0-
