Putin congratulates Sarkissian on Independence Day

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a message to Armenian President Armen Sarkissian congratulating him on the 28th anniversary of Armenia’s declaration of independence from the Soviet Union, the press office of the Armenian president reported on Friday.

YEREVAN, September 20. /ARKA/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a message to Armenian President Armen Sarkissian congratulating him on the 28th anniversary of Armenia’s declaration of independence from the Soviet Union, the press office of the Armenian president reported on Friday.
"I am happy to congratulate you on the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia," the Russian president says in his message. "Our countries' relations are based on centuries long traditions of friendship, spiritual intimacy and mutual trust."
Putin said in his message that further development of allied relations, as well as effective cooperation in various fields fully meet the interests of the peoples of Armenia and Russia and are in tune with the strengthening of security and stability in the region.
Putin wished good health and success to Sarkissian and all citizens of Armenia. -0---
