Security Council Secretary: Russia took Nagorno-Karabakh from Armenia and handed it over to Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, June 26. /ARKA/.  Russia took Nagorno-Karabakh from Armenia and handed it over to Azerbaijan, Armenia’s Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said on Wednesday.

“This happened when we were completely dependent on Russia. This was the reality back then,” he said. “Russia came to Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020, handed it over to Azerbaijan, and withdrew its troops,” he added.

Grigoryan also noted that Russia’s leader Vladimir Putin publicly spoke of  Nagorno-Karabakh as of Azerbaijani territory even before the Prague meeting between Nikol Pashinyan, Ilham Aliyev, Charles Michel and Emmanuel Macron in October 2022, where Baku and Yerevan committed to the 1991 Alma-Ata Protocol, confirming the Soviet-era border between the countries.
