YEREVAN, October 6. /ARKA/. By a vote of 96 to 4 Armenian MPs have reelected today Tigran Mukuchyan as chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC). His candidacy was put forward by a parliamentary committee on state and legal affairs on September 26.

Mukuchyan thanked the parliament for the trust and said he is aware of the responsibility placed on him.

"The Central Election Commission is always open to objective criticism, which enhances its efficiency and is ready to cooperate actively with political parties and representatives of civil society," – he said. He promised that CEC’s activity will be based on the rule of law, fairness and transparency.

Mukuchyan has served as head of the Central Election Committee since September 19, 2011. Also Laura Galstyan, Armen Smbatyan, Seyran Shahsuvaryan, Nune Hovhannisyan, Georgiy Martirosyan and Silva Markosyan have been elected as CEC members. -0-
