YEREVAN, March 15. /ARKA/. Air ticket prices in Armenia are likely to drop, the head of the Main Civil Aviation Administration Sergey Avetisyan said after a government meeting today. The government decided today to merge the Armenian Aeronavigation and the Zvartnots Aviameteorological Center into a single structure.
These two companies provide currently the following services now: the organization of air flights, observation of navigation, provision of aeronautical information, and weather services. The first three services are provided by Armenian Aeronavigation, which pays 30 thousand drams ($62) to Zvartnots Aviation Meteorological Center for each takeoff and landing of the aircraft.
"In fact, we are creating a unified system that will provide full information and eliminate the payment of AMD 30,000, which will positively affect the improvement of the business atmosphere, which in turn may indirectly affect the cost of air tickets," said Avetisyan.
He said the benefits of this decision will be felt more pronounced by small aircraft that will fly within Armenia. -0-
