Armenia and Russia to discuss natural gas price
YEREVAN, September 10. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said to a meeting with Russia-based businessmen of Armenian origin that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to look into the pricing of Russian gas delivered to Armenia, when they met in the Kremlin on September 8, according to  Russian TASS news agency.

He said the Russian natural gas is delivered to Armenia by Gazprom at a rather low price ($150 per one thousand cubic meters), but the problem is that Gazprom’s Armenian subsidiary - Gazprom Armenia - sells it to Armenian households at almost $300.

He said Putin and he agreed that discussions are needed to understand how this new double price is being created.

“We need to look into and understand why this happens and make the pricing  mechanism more efficient.  We agreed with Mr. Putin that a bilateral task force will work on this issue, "Pashinyan said.

Prior to the talks  with the Armenian Prime Minister, Putin told journalists that Gazprom delivers natural gas to Armenia at $150 per 1,000 cubic meters, the lowest price offered by Gazprom in the world. Putin also recalled that Russia is Armenia’s biggest investor.

Earlier, Armenian Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Artur Grigoryan said that Armenian and Russian officials will meet in November to discuss the price of Russian gas deliveries. He stressed that the government is looking for ways to purchase cheaper gas for Armenian consumers. -0-
