Armenia’s population decreased by 6,600 people in the  first 9 months of 2015, according to the latest numbers, released today by the National Statistical Service (NSS).

YEREVAN, November 3. / ARKA /. Armenia’s population decreased by 6,600 people in the  first 9 months of 2015, according to the latest numbers, released today by the National Statistical Service (NSS).

As of October 1, 2015 the country had 3 million and 4 thousand permanent population, including 1.910.9 million of urban population and 1.093.1 million of rural population.

According to NSS data, the decrease of population this year resulted from the prevalence of negative migration balance of 16,300 people over the natural population growth of 9,800.

The number of children born in the country in the first 9 months of 2015 decreased by 2.5% compared to the same period of 2014 to 30,666. The number of deaths decreased by 0.7% to 20,900. The natural population growth amounted to 9,766 people.

According to border e-governance of Armenia, over 4 million people crossed the border in both directions in the first nine months of 2015.

Some 2 million and four thousand people arrived in Armenia and 2 million and 96 thousand left it.-0-
