YEREVAN, April 12. /ARKA/. The Armenian government approved Thursday changes to its previous decisions related to the road traffic rules. Armenian Police Chief Valery Osipyan, said at the Cabinet meeting that the changes were prompted by the intention to bring the rules in conformity with international norms and requirements.

In his words, car parking 5 meters and more close to crosswalks and 15 meters to motor transport stops will be permitted on roundabouts.

The new requirements apply also to road signs on the road sections which are being repaired – they must be yellow, not white. Rules for road surface marking will be revised as well. There will be a path for bike riders on roads. There is also some alteration for the rules relating to tinted window glasses and the rules related to transportation of kids.

In accordance with the proposed amendments to the rules, kids of the age below 7 must be transported only in a special car chair for children, and those above 7 must be belted.

The social and Labor Affairs Minister Zaruhi Batoyan proposed to prohibit car parking just in front of ramps, since it hinders movement of wheelchairs and baby buggies.

Osipyan, in return, said that legal restrictions already exist. He promised to do whatever is necessary to rule out such cases. -0---
