Armenian police uncover 189 crimes during New Year holidays

Armenian police said in a statement today they uncovered a total of 189 crimes during the New Year holidays between December 31 and January 8, including 6 crimes, which had been committed earlier.

YEREVAN, January 8. /ARKA/. Armenian police said in a statement today they uncovered a total of 189 crimes during the New Year holidays between December 31 and January 8, including 6 crimes, which had been committed earlier.
The police said some 55 cases were qualified as causing bodily harm, 29 as beatings, 22 as theft of personal property, 13 as threats, 10 as intentional damage to property, 8 as fraud, 6 as hooliganism, and 4 cases were qualified as apartment thefts and carrying cold steel.
Besides, 3 cases of drug carrying, as many cases of robbery and bribery, 2 cases of armed robbery, two cases of carrying weapons and ammunition, official forgery or official negligence and sexual violence were reported. Police also uncovered a murder case, an attempted murder, a rape or attempted rape and a kidnapping.
Other uncovered cases involved embezzlement, extortion, abuse of authority, violence against a representative of the authorities, arbitrariness, non-enforcement of a judicial act, unlawful deprivation of liberty and others.
"During this period, 18 wanted persons were discovered, another five more have turned themselves in, 4 people reported missing were found.
The police report also notes that over the past 9 days, 98 road accidents were registered in the country killing 4 people and causing injuries of various severity to another 158 people. -0-
