YEREVAN, April 15, /ARKA/. Despite a dramatic drop in the number of new confirmed Covid-19 cases Armenian citizens and foreigners will have to demonstrate the green area of their QR code when entering public places, such as restaurants, cafes, gyms and others, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan said today.

Speaking at a government meeting, she said this requirement will be in force for some time yet. "We have a very favorable epidemiological situation at the moment, but we understand that we have to use this window to prevent further infections through vaccination. And the requirement to show QR codes when visiting estaurants, places of leisure, at workplaces will be in force in the near future," she said.

This requirement has been in force since January 22, 2022. Earlier, the government reduced the period of self-isolation of citizens from 14 to 7 days for vaccinated citizens and up to 10 days for non-vaccinated. The self-isolation period for the latter may be reduced to 7 days in case of a negative PCR test.

Starting December 1, working people in Armenia who have not been vaccinated against coronavirus must present a certificate valid for 72 hours to their employers every 7 days, confirming a negative PCR test result.

Armenian health officials have recorded 8 new case of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. According to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, no person has died from Covid-19 over the five days in a row.

In Armenia, 6 types of Covid-19 vaccines are used now- CoronaVac and Sinopharm (China), AstraZeneca (Britain, Sweden), Sputnik V (Russia), Pfizer and Spikevax (Moderna, USA). Vaccinations are free for people over 18 years old, including foreigners.

On November 11, the government of Armenia extended the coronavirus quarantine until June 20, 2022.

The nationwide quarantine was first imposed on September 11, 2020 replacing the state of emergency that was declared on March 16 to stop the spread of coronavirus. -0-
