YEREVAN, January 21. /ARКА/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan convened today a meeting to look into the accessibility of the universal declaration system.

The head of government attached importance to ensuring the accessibility of the system in order to make the process more convenient and faster for those who must submit declaration.

Pashinyan noted, in particular, that pensioners have a smartphone, all the time going to Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

“During the day, each of us scrolls senselessly for an hour. Let's scroll meaningfully for another half hour and, for example, spend half an hour a day on filling out the income tax return," he said.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan, head of the State Revenue Committee Eduard Hakobyan, as well as former Minister of Economy, Director of the Information Systems Agency Nerses Yeritsyan.

Today, Pashinyan also published a video on his Facebook page in which he calls one of the banks, identifies himself and asks to provide him with data for 2024 regarding the interest on the deposit he has in the bank and the number of loans. According to him, he did not have this data o complete his declaration.

The system of universal income declaration for citizens and residents has been gradually introduced from January 1, 2023.

According to the new procedure, all adult resident citizens must submit a declaration. At the first stage, declarations were submitted by citizens holding community or public positions and their family members; individuals involved in entrepreneurial activity.

At the second stage, from 2024, declarations were filled out by hired workers in the private sector and employees who received income under civil law contracts.

From 2025, declarations will have to be submitted by all those citizen-residents of the country who are not included in the two specified groups.

Citizens are required to submit their declarations before May 1 of each year following the reporting year. In case of evasion and delay, fines are provided - 50 thousand drams for entrepreneurs, 5 thousand drams for other citizens. ($1 - 398.84 drams) -0-
