The Yerevan Municipality denied media reports claiming that the city authorities allowed a local developer to demolish several old buildings in the center of the city, which are considered to have cultural and historic value.
YEREVAN, January 25. / ARKA /. The Yerevan Municipality denied media reports claiming that the city authorities allowed a local developer to demolish several old buildings in the center of the city, which are considered to have cultural and historic value.
"Media reports alleging that the buildings in the area between Abovyan, Pushkin and Nalbandyan streets, including the well-known restaurant Dolmama will be demolished are not true,’ the press service of the municipality said in a statement.
According to the municipality, the owner of this area - Local Developers company, has not yet completed the process of buying out the property, and did not submit any development projects to the Municipality. Accordingly, there is no permission for the demolition of these buildings.
It said also the area has 4 historical buildings and in this regard the municipality’s clear position is to keep them in their place. -0-
