YEREVAN, October 3. /ARKA/. The Yerevan municipality has terminated its contract with Sanitek, Hayk Marutyan, the city mayor, reported Wednesday on his Facebook page. The mayor says that the municipality's officers started scrutinizing the company's activity and examining its equipment.
The scrutiny, which was completed a few days ago, has revealed that Sanitek had systematically failed to remove garbage, had ensured few garbage containers and the insufficient number of garbage-carrying trucks in a clear breach of its contractual obligations. Marutyan also points out the lack of insurance contracts.
For several months, residents of Yerevan have been complaining over the failure of Sanitek’s Armenian division to collect garbage throughout the city.
Sanitek Armenia, the branch of Sanitek International Group –a multinational waste management company headquartered in Lebanon, was chosen by the Yerevan Municipality to handle sanitary cleaning and waste recycling of the capital city and until recently it was a monopolist in this business. -0---
