Number of tourists visiting Armenia over 9 months decreased by 6.2% to 1.7 million

YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. The number of foreign tourists visiting Armenia in January-September 2024 totaled 1,721,245, compared to 1,835,297 during the same period in 2023, marking a decrease of 6.2%, the Armenian National Statistical Committee said.
Among the tourists who visited Armenia in nine months, 761,932 were women and 959,313 were men. The largest group of visitors was aged 36-63 years (850,862 people), while the smallest group was aged 16-17 years (25,839 people).
The largest number of tourists came from Russia (740,890 people, or 43% of the total, a decline of 20.1% compared to January-September last year), Georgia (199,145 people, or 11.6%, an increase of 7.1%), and Iran (136,496 people, or 7.9%, an increase of 17.8%).
Armenia was also visited by citizens from the United States (48,257 people), India (33,233), China (24,444), Germany (22,519), France (24,243), Ukraine (21,427), the Philippines (16,695), Belarus (12,681), Italy (12,350), the Republic of Korea (11,790), the Netherlands (11,749), Poland (8,893), Turkey (8,585), Belgium (7,934), Kazakhstan (7,700), Spain (6,552), the UAE (5,545), Bulgaria (5,433), Iraq (5,290), Austria (4,729), the Czech Republic (4,596), Moldova (4,545), Greece (4,373), Egypt (4,269), Canada (4,254), Sweden (4,086), Israel (3,863), Australia (3,282), and Lebanon (3,148).
The smallest number of tourists—1 person each—came from Botswana, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, the Marshall Islands, Niger, and Samoa.
Two people each arrived from the Bahamas, Cape Verde, Mauritania, Micronesia, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Chad, Paraguay, Djibouti, and Togo.
Three people each came to Armenia from Belize, Eritrea, the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Malawi, and Somalia.
The report notes that 226 people arrived from an unknown country, which is 5.1% more than in the January-September period of last year.
At the same time, it is reported that 1,302,080 tourists left the country in the first 9 months of 2024, compared to 1,189,071 during the same period in 2023 (a 9.5% increase). -0-
