Over 2.26 million tourists visited Armenia in 2025, a 2.5% increase over 2024: Papoyan
YEREVAN, January 8. /ARKA/. In 2025, Armenia welcomed 2,263,642 tourists, marking a 2.5% rise from the previous year and a 19.4% increase compared to 2019, as announced by Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan during a government meeting on Thursday.
He noted that December saw a record high of 139,933 tourists arriving in the country, a remarkable achievement for that month.
"May, June, July, August, October, November, and December—seven out of twelve months—recorded the best annual statistics in Armenia's history," he elaborated.
Papoyan pointed out that 2023 was the peak year, with 50,000 more tourists visiting than in 2025.
"However, there were 216,000 fewer tourists from Russia this year compared to 2023. On the other hand, the influx from other countries increased by 166,000, resulting in a net decline of only 50,000," he remarked.
As part of the government's Strategic Program for Tourism Development for 2026-2030, there are plans to boost the annual tourist count to 3 million, up from 2.2 million in 2024.-0-
