Shirak airport in Gyumri to get preference

The Shirak airport in Armenia’s second largest town of Gyumri will be exempted from the payment of meteorological services from February 1, the Ministry of Nature Protection said today.

YEREVAN, January 23. /ARKA/. The Shirak airport in Armenia’s second largest town of Gyumri will be exempted from the payment of meteorological services from February 1, the Ministry of Nature Protection said today.
A company called Zvartnots Aviation Weather Center of the Ministry of Nature Protection provides meteorological services to all the airlines flying to Gyumri. In order to help develop and expand Shirak airport’s operations and enhance its attractiveness the Ministry of Nature Protection decided to make meteorological services free for all airlines flying to Gyumri. The cost of services for a single flight is now 33,000 drams.
The ministry said this decision is aimed at increasing the interest of the airlines in the Shirak airport, and at stimulating the development of tourism, including ecotourism.
Armenia has two airports – Zvartnots in Yerevan and Shirak in Gyumri. Both are operated by Armenia - International Airports, a company owned by Argentinean Armenian businessman Eduardo Eurnekian. -($1 - 486,33 драма) -0-
