YEREVAN, September 9. /ARKA/. Two companies participated in the tender for the construction of a waste recycling plant, and a consortium of Chinese, Arab, and Armenian companies won, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced at a meeting of the Council of Elders on Tuesday.

In December 2025, the Yerevan Municipality announced an open two-stage tender to select an investor for the construction and subsequent operation of a mixed municipal waste recycling plant. It is planned to establish it on the site of the Nubarashen landfill on the outskirts of the capital. In collaboration with partners (the EBRD and the World Bank), proposals for the construction of a new landfill and recycling station were collected, and the terms of the two-stage tender were developed.

According to Avinyan, the scope of their work and the conclusion of contracts with these companies are yet to be finalized. The financial parameters of the project were not announced.
