Armenia must prepare to diversify the export of apricots and other agricultural products to reduce dependence on a single market, stated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
YEREVAN, July 9. /ARKA/. Armenia must prepare to diversify the export of apricots and other agricultural products to reduce dependence on a single market, stated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"Last year, farmers sold apricots for an average of 200 drams; this year, it's between 400 and 600 drams. This is also a factor that must be taken into account," Pashinyan said at a government meeting on Thursday.
According to him, apricot yields are cyclical: there are years of bumper crops and years of poor harvests.
"We have time within a year to prepare for a situation in which we can maximally diversify the export of apricots and other agricultural products and not rely solely on a single market," Pashinyan said.
