Natural gas price for domestic consumers in Armenia probably won't change for 8 years - deputy minister
YEREVAN, March 11. /ARKA/. If a number of conditions prescribed in the Armenian-Russian agreement on supply of natural gas are observed, it will possible to keep natural gas prices for consumers at the current level until 2031, Armenian Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hakob Vardanyan said today.
"There are great chances that in the next 8 years the gas price will remain the same, unless some big geopolitical or economic changes take place. If the price of gas on the world market is $3000 per one thousand cubic meters, it will be difficult to keep the $165 price for Armenia. " the Deputy Minister said at a sitting of the parliament committee on regional and Eurasian integration.
Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan said earlier that the price of Russian gas for Armenia at the border ($165 per 1000 cubic meters) will not change in 2024. He said the price for domestic consumers will not change either, according to the contract between Gazprom Armenia and its parent company PJSC Gazprom for 2024.
The natural gas prices effective from April 1, 2022 are 100,000 drams per one thousand cubic meters for y unprotected strata of the population, including VAT. For other individual subscribers (using up to 600 cubic meters of gas per year) the price is 143,700 ($354).
As for other categories of consumers, the price for greenhouses and agricultural enterprises is the equivalent of $233.9; for other subscribers using up to 10 thousand cubic meters per month - 143.7 thousand drams, and when consuming more than 10 thousand cubic meters per month - the price is equivalent of $265.81.
PJSC Gazprom is the only supplier of natural gas to Armenia for domestic consumption. Russian gas is supplied to Armenian consumers by Gazprom Armenia (a 100% subsidiary of Gazprom) via transit through Georgia. The price of Russian gas for Armenia (at the border) is $165 per 1,000 cubic meters.-0-
