Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan announced in the interview on TV channel Armnews that it was difficult for him to carry out decision to resign.
YEREVAN, October 28. /ARKA/. Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan announced in the interview on TV channel Armnews that it was difficult for him to carry out decision to resign.
“I have thought about it for a long time and taking the opportunity I would like to express my gratitude to the President of Armenia, Republican Party and the Elderly Council and, of course population of Yerevan for the trust towards me”, said Karapetyan.
He said that he is going to resign, due to transfer to another job and some personal reasons that he does not want to overload the public.
As for the rumors about his transfer to another job in Moscow he called it insignificant, but did not exclude such an opportunity.
According to media information, Karapetyan was proposed the post of deputy chairman of the board of Gazprom and will leave for Moscow in the nearest future.
Karen Karapetyan was selected Yerevan Mayor by the Elderly Council upon the proposal of the President of Armenia on December 17, 2010. Prior to his appointment, he was the General Director of ArmRosgazprom (shareholders are: Gazprom and Government of Armenia which is a monopolist in the delivery and distribution of Russian natural gas in domestic market of Armenia. -0-
