Armenia confirms its commitment to preventive diplomacy – Sargsyan

Armenia, being a Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) founder-country, confirms, together with other member-countries, its commitment to preventive diplomacy as an important tool for ensuring the security and preventing crises, says the welcoming message of Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan to participants of the international forum on integration of national and regional peace-keeping potentials into the global system based on UN principles.

YEREVAN, July 1. /ARKA/. Armenia, being a Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) founder-country, confirms, together with other member-countries, its commitment to preventive diplomacy as an important tool for ensuring the security and preventing crises, says the welcoming message of Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan to participants of the international forum on integration of national and regional peace-keeping potentials into the global system based on UN principles.

The forum opened in Yerevan on Tuesday.

“We are guided by the principle that peace-keeping is one of the most important component of the CSTO priorities aimed at strengthening the global and the regional security”, Sargsyan said.

The president wished the forum participants fruitful work and expressed hopes the forum will become a platform for exchanging views and ideas on peace-keeping.

Armenia is well aware of the importance of peace-keeping efforts as a means for prevention of escalation, refusal of militaristic approaches in dispute settlement, Sargsyan said.

The president wished the forum would serve further development of peace-keeping toolkit and contribute to consolidation of global efforts for stability and security, according to the report. –0—
