Armenia’s parliament speaker to pay an official visit to Brussels

Armenia’s parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan will head to Brussels on an official visit at the invitation of the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, the parliament reported Tuesday.

YEREVAN, January 8./ARKA/. Armenia’s parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan will head to Brussels on an official visit at the invitation of the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, the parliament reported Tuesday.

The Armenian delegation headed by Abrahamyan includs Republican party faction chief Galust Sahakyan, the leader of ARF Dashnaktsutyun faction  Armen Rustamyan, the head of the four parliamentary permanent commissions—for foreign affairs, defense, national security and inner affairs, state and legal affairs, science, education, culture, youth and sport, as well as deputies Samvel Farmanyan, Vahe Enfiajyan, Khachik Harutyunyan, parliament staff chief Gurgen Dumanyan and deputy foreign minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan. 

During the visit, Abrahamyan will meet with the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle, Chairman of the Belgian Senate Sabine de Bethune.

Abrahamyan will also participate in the ceremony of formation EU-Armenia friendship group.

On January 10, Abrahamyan will visit the Armenian church together with Shultz and Rumpuy, as well as lay a wreath at the monument to the victims of the Armenian genocide. On the same day the delegation will return to Armenia.  -0-
