YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. Karen Karapetyan, Armenian prime minister, met Thursday foreign ambassadors to Armenia and heads and representatives of international organizations, the Armenian government’s press office reports.  

The government’s activity, agenda of reforms, economic development programs and the steps to be taken to combat corruption were discussed at the meeting. 

Stressing the importance of such meetings, Karapetyan said that the government is always open for criticism and proposals. 

“I find it very important that you passed on our Armenia development vision to the countries and organizations you represent,” he said. “We expect very much from our cooperation, including investors and professional culture, as well as from tourism, since we can’t develop our country without this and we want to show the international community and the world that we are open and we are waiting them.”

Speaking about the upcoming parliamentary elections the premier declared that ‘Armenia expects a completely new quality from the elections’. He also declared that the government is willing to do whatever is possible to make these elections transparent. 

In his words, over the first 100 days of its activity, the new government has made every effort to identify problems.  

Karapetyan said that appropriate reports will be released soon. 

“I think that the team members have already sorted through things in their segments and are already aware of what they should do,” he said. 

The prime minister said that his team members have plenty to do. He singled out creation of equal, open and fair conditions to all businesses as the key objective in the country’s economy. 

“We have stated in this context that many changes will be implemented,” he said adding that first of all they should change themselves. 

To lessen corruption risks and improve investment climate, he said, the government intends to simplify tax and customs administration and to carry out transition to electronic system. 

Karapetyan also assured diplomats that his government is constantly thinking about corruption and that they will take some measures to lessen it by changing environment. 
In his words, the government will launch a crackdown on corruption and will combat shady dealings. --0---
