YEREVAN, March 7. /ARKA/. Armenian government approved the concept of a draft law about development of the Yerevan city Center Thursday.

Armenian deputy minister of urban planning Ruzan Alaverdyan said that the proposals submitted reflect the same range of problems on Yerevan city center development. This means that apparently there are problems, she said.

The experts are almost unanimous on the point that special status should be given to city center development, zoning and planning projects should be revised, green areas should be conserved and public discussions should be held on urban planning, Alaverdyan said.

Alaverdyan also said that importance is attached to urban planning near memorial and traditional buildings, as well as to unloading the center of Yerevan.
The deputy minister pointed out that the concept envisages splitting up Yerevan into zones with special areas where urban planning works are possible only in exceptional cases after strict assessments are made.

The prime-minister instructed to complete preparation of the bill within six months, Alaverdyan said. –0--
