Armenian customs officers thwart attempts of illegal import of medicines

YEREVAN, June 23. /ARKA/. Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) said its officers thwarted two attempts of illegal import of medicines by two citizens of Armenia - father and son S.G. and A.G., who arrived at Bagratashen checkpoint on the Georgian-Armenian border in their own cars.
When asked by a customs inspector whether they had goods subject to declaration, they said that there were none.
The cars were sent for a detailed inspection. In one of the cars customs officers discovered various medicines and empty boxes of medicines with a total weight of 41 kg. In the other vehicle, the officers also discovered various medicines and empty boxes of medicines with the total weight of 40.5 kg.
The medicines and boxes were hidden between the spare passenger seat and the gas cylinder and behind the upholstery of the rear side door.
The medicines were seized and reports of violation of customs rules were drawn up. -0-
