Birth and death rates down in Armenia in 2022

YEREVAN, December 5. /ARKA/. The birth rate in Armenia in January-October 2022 decreased by 1.4% compared to the same period in 2021, according to he National Statistical Committee.
It said that 22,906 babies were born during the reporting period, down from 30,320 babies born during the first ten months of 2021.
Compared to the same period in 2020, when 30,146 babies were born, the drop was 0.7%.
Some 369 cases of stillbirths were recorded in the first 10 months of 2022, which is 13.2% less than in the same period of 2021 and 2.4% less than in 2020.
Overall, 22,579 deaths were reported in January-October 2022, a 15.9% decrease from the same period in 2021 and a 12.8% decrease from the ten months of 2020.
More than half (53.3% or 12,029 people) died from diseases of the circulatory system, 8.8% less than in the same period in 2021.
Other causes of death were neoplasms (19% or 4,294 people, a decrease of 3.9%), respiratory diseases (8.9% or 2,006 people, down 6%), digestive diseases (4.2% or 951 people, down 4.4%) and COVID-19 (3.5% or 799 people, down 78.4%). -0- -0-
