Acclaimed French-Armenian singer and songwriter Charles Aznavour is giving a concert on Wednesday in the Russian capital city Moscow, RIA Novosti reported.

YEREVAN, April 22. / ARKA /. Acclaimed French-Armenian singer and songwriter Charles Aznavour is giving a concert on Wednesday in the Russian capital city Moscow, RIA Novosti reported.

His last year's concert in Moscow was declared to be the final one in his career, however, the 90 year-old singer, dubbed as the classic of the French chanson, will sing again for Russian lovers of his art.

Aznavour will perform his best –known songs in 7 languages, including Russian. Aznavour’s songs were performed by Elton John, Bob Dylan, Sting, Placido Domingo, Celin Dion, Julio Iglesias, Edith Piaf, Liza Minnelli, Ray Charles, Tom Jones, Laura Pausini, Andrea Bocelli, Serge Gensburg and many others. As an actor, Charles Aznavour appeared in over sixty films.

Charles Aznavour was declared the best singer of century by CNN and Times magazine. During his 70-year career he sold 100 million disks, composed 1,200 songs,   played 80 roles in films and released 294 albums singing more than 1,000 concerts in 94 countries.

After the Moscow concert Aznavour will meet with a73 year-old Russian woman, Lidia Ivanovna, an old admirer of his songs.

She became popular after a Moscow journalist's Facebook post motivated the public to secure a Charles Aznavour concert ticket for her. The singer himself was moved by the story and said he would meet his Russian admirer. The journalist Aleksandr Chernykh met Lydia Ivanovna in the subway, where she was looking at a magazine with the photo of Aznavour.

The journalist asked her if he could buy the magazine for her. She declined the proposal, saying she knew Aznavour would be singing in Moscow on April 22..

She was referring to the event at Moscow's Crocus City Hall on April 22, with tickets costing up to $600 - a steep sum for a Russian pensioner. But now, thanks to the power of social media, Russian ‘Granny Lida’ can go to the concert and meet her idol in person.-0-
