YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. No side effects have been reported by people who have been vaccinated in Armenia against COVID-19, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan told reporters today after a government meeting.

She said Armenia had received a small batch of Russian Sputnik V vaccine a month ago, which are used to vaccinate a small group of people, mainly health workers and people at risk.

“We are in touch with the vaccinated people and to date, no acute side effects have been reported by them,” said Avanesyan.

She said no mass vaccination is planned yet, but the people in risk groups will get the jabs along with the import of new batches of vaccines.

According to her, there are no specific data regarding the frequency of vaccination and the duration of the immunity, as everything depends on the type of vaccine.

For risk groups, vaccination will be voluntary, for the rest it will be paid, but the price is still unknown. The Ministry of Health has approved three vaccines against coronavirus - Sputnik V, AstraZeneca and Pfizer.

Armenian health officials have recorded 1,024 cases of Covid-19 over the past 24 hours (the highest number since December 17, 2020), saying the total number of confirmed cases rose to 181,165 as of Thursday morning.

According to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 19 persons have died from Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, taking the total tally of such deaths to 3,301. -0-
