President Sargsyan condoles death of prominent Armenian actor

President Serzh Sargsyan issued a message of condolences on the death of a prominent Armenian actor Sos Sargsyan, who died yesterday at the age of 84 after protracted illness.
YEREVAN, September 27, /ARKA/. President Serzh Sargsyan issued a message of condolences on the death of a prominent Armenian actor Sos Sargsyan, who died yesterday at the age of 84 after protracted illness.
"We are all grieved. We lost a great actor, a great intellectual, and agreat Armenian. Sos Sargsyan's presence in our art and social life was remarkable. His conduct and posture made us all much kinder and much better. I offer my deepest condolences to Sos Sargsyan's relatives, colleagues, and those who loved his art. This is an irretrievable loss," he said in a message.
Sos Sargsyan was born in Stepanavan on October 24, 1929. He starred in more than 30 films, including “Soliarias” of Andrey Tarkovsky, “Mikhaylo Lomonosov”, “Triangle”, “We and our mountains” and others. Sargsyan took active part in Armenia’s social and political life. He was elected to the parliament of USSR in 1998 and ran for president in 1991. He founded and headed Hamazgayin Theatre. Sargsyan was rector of Yerevan Institute of Theatre and Cinema in 1997-2005.
