YEREVAN, May 21. /ARKA/. The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in Yerevan is sixth in the list of nine memorial museums which deserve to be visited by everybody, according to Russian Forbes' article.
The article is timed to the opening of the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York in Wednesday. The museum has already fallen under displeasure of the relatives of those killed in the September 11 terrorist arrack, but the founders of the museum, are convinced that visitors who are not connected with the tragedy directly, may give a deepen understanding of best characteristics of humankind.
Along with the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, Disasters Museum in Crimea, the Chernobyl National Museum in Kiev, GULAG Museum in Moscow, the Peace Memorial Museum in Hiroshima, Titanic Belfast in Northern Ireland and Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg were recommended by Russian Forbes for visiting.
The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute opened in 1995, when the nation marked the 80th anniversary of Armenian Genocide in Turkey.
The Armenian Genocide Memorial and the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute are built on the hill of Tsitsernakaberd in Yerevan. Every year on April 24, hundreds of thousands of Armenians gather at the memorial to commemorate the victims of the genocide. Now the museum is under restoration. It will be opened in April 2015 by the 100th anniversary of the genocide. 0---
