Speaking at a news conference he said the total number of officially registered job seekers on April 1 stood at 78,600, 3.8% down from the beginning of the year, when there were 81,700 job-seekers. He said the highest unemployment rate, 70.7% ( 43,000) was among women. Young people made 22.1% (14,400) of all officially registered jobless people.

"Only 13,262 people received unemployment benefits, which was 8.2% less in comparison with the beginning of the year," he said.
Simonian said the agency helped 2,556 people find jobs this year, of which 1,516 were women, 747 were men and 50 were young people with disabilities.

"The most demanded specialists in the Armenian labor market are doctors, accountants, treasurers, nurses, teachers, programmers, veterinarians, managers, distributors, and representatives of the service sector", said Simonian.
