Tigran Barseghyan dismissed as chief architect of Yerevan

Yerevan’s acting mayor Kamo Areyan has dismissed the Armenian capital city’s chief architect Tigran Barseghyan, Yerevan municipality said in a statement posted on its official website.

YEREVAN, September 18. /ARKA/. Yerevan’s acting mayor Kamo Areyan has dismissed the Armenian capital city’s chief architect Tigran Barseghyan, Yerevan municipality said in a statement posted on its official website. Barseghyan held this position since 2013.
This year the Erebuni-Yerevan festival celebrating the establishment anniversary of the Armenian capital city will be held on October 20-21. Usually it is held every second Saturday of October, but this year it was to be held September 29-30, ahead of the Francophone summit, slated for October 7-12 to be hosted by Yerevan. Besides, Elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan will be held on September 23.
Erebuni (Yerevan) was founded in 782 BC by king Argishti the First. The cornerstone, on which the year of foundation was carved, is still intact kept at Erebuni Fortress Museum. Yerevan was proclaimed the capital of the First Republic of Armenia on May 28, 1918. Yerevan Day is celebrated annually, starting from 1968. This year the Armenian capital is becoming 2,800 years old. -0-
