Yerevan's new Surmalu metro station project nears finalization, financing under discussion
YEREVAN, November 11. /ARKA/. The project designed for the construction of the new 12th station of the Yerevan metro, Surmalu, has been returned for revision, said Aneta Babayan, adviser to the mayor of the Armenian capital city.
"The technical task was discussed at the professional group meeting on October 17 during the parliamentary discussions on the Yerevan budget. It was decided to revise and refine it, adding a number of technical and other studies," she said at a meeting in the city administration on Monday.
Babayan informed that the technical specifications had been presented to international organizations and foreign experts to gather additional opinions. According to her, if the next meeting of the professional group takes place before the end of November and the revised version is approved, the tender process will then be organized.
"Preliminary negotiations are underway with international organizations regarding potential financing for the project. Meanwhile, a public investment project is being developed for submission to the government for review," the adviser said.
About the Surmalu Station
At the moment, it is unclear exactly where the 12th Surmalu metro station will be located. It is expected to be situated between the two existing metro stations, Sasuntsi David and Zoravar Andranik, providing access to the Surmalu and Petak shopping centers, as well as an alternative urban transport route to Sevan Street. This will help alleviate traffic in the area. -0-
