YEREVAN, March 1. /ARKA/. Levon Aronian, Armenian chess grandmaster and Olympiad champion, is third in FIDE February rating with 2809 points.
Number 1 ranked chess player remains Magnus Carlsen from Norway. His peak rating is 2872. Russian player Vladimir Kramnik is second with 2810 points.
Top five best players are also Teimour Radjabov (2793, Azerbaijan), Sergey Karjakin (2786, Russia). Current World Chess champion Viswanathan Anand (2784, India, ) is ranked sixth.
Another four Armenian chess players are also ranked in top 100 – Vladimir Hakobyan (45th), Sergey Movsisyan (60th), Gabriel Sargsyan (78th) and Tigran Petrosyan (81st).
Only two Armenian female chess players appeared in the rating—Elina Danielyan (30th) and Lilit Mkrtchyan (33th).
Levon Aronian was World Chess champion in 2005. He is a winner of three Olympiads (2006, 2008, 2012), super tournaments in Linares, Wijk aan Zee. He was a member of the gold-medal winning Armenian team at the World Team Chess Championship in 2011.—0-
