YEREVAN, July 13. /ARKA/. One Armenian tour operator was removed from the list of companies providing  vacation services to public servants, whose vacations are paid by the government, Mekhak Apresyan, head of an economy ministry department in charge of tourism industry, told a news conference today, adding that another two will be removed as well.

Citing a string of abuses revealed by Armenian government’s oversight service prime minister Hovik Abrahamyan said July 7 the government will temporarily suspend the funding for vacations envisaged for public servants as part of their social insurance package beginning from 2017.  He said the decision is incorporated into the government’s mid-term expenditure program designed for 2017-2019 and approved today.

According to Apresyan, all public servants will be bale to have their government-paid vacancies this year.
He said 21 warnings had been issued to tour operators last year for their failure to comply with all the government-set requirements for providing vacation services to public servants.

The government earmarks 10 billion drams each year for about 100,000 public servants. The so-called social package is worth 132,000 drams. It can be used to pay for health care services, mortgage loan interest, university tuition fees and vacation.  ($1 – 476.35 drams). --0--
