YEREVAN, May 20. /ARKA/. Sales of tours to Armenia among Russian tourists this season have increased by 45% compared to last year, the Russian Union of Travel Industry reports, citing data from tour operators.
According to Oksana Bulakh, Deputy General Director of the tour operator "Alean," the increase in demand is being driven by direct flights, a visa-free regime, and a "calm information environment" amid the escalating situation in the Middle East.
"The Middle East crisis has led to a decline in the number of tourists from Arab countries to Armenia, Georgia, and Central Asia, and has contributed to hoteliers' increased interest in tourists from Russia. And Russians have begun to choose these destinations more often, with their calm information environment and direct flights," Interfax quotes Bulakh as saying.
According to the tour operator, Russians most often book intensive excursion programs lasting 6-8 days.
According to the Russian Federal Security Service's Border Service, Russian tourist travel to Armenia increased by 35% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year.
The Russian Union of Travel Industry also noted an increase in Russian demand for travel to other CIS countries, including Georgia, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.
