To successfully resolve the economic and social problems the Armenian government needs to secure a protracted economic growth of 7-8% annually, according to Manuk Hergnyan, the head of a local think tank called Economy and Values, who presented today the latest findings of the Global Competitiveness Report for 2016-2017, in which Armenia has improved its position in terms of competitiveness by three points, moving up to the 79th place among 138 countries.

Armenia has improved its position in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Competitiveness Ranking in terms of the number of procedures required to register a business, Sevak Hovhanesian from Economy and Values local think tank told a news conference today, while presenting the latest report. He said overall the country has moved up 10 notches to 82nd place out of 144 countries surveyed in 2011-2012.
