YEREVAN, July 2. /ARKA/. The European Union intends to help Armenia diversify its energy supplies, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said at a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.
"You need a strategic approach on energy. Just as we help Armenia diversify its trade, which increases resilience and strengthens the country, the EU also wants to help Armenia diversify its energy supplies," von der Leyen said, responding to a question about possible EU actions in the event of a price increase for Russian gas for Armenia.
According to her, EU experts will arrive in Armenia next week for this purpose.
Von der Leyen also stated that the EU is investing in the region's energy security by creating new energy interconnectivity routes.
According to her, the EU is allocating €25 million to support the development of renewable energy in Armenia. "This increases Armenia's independence and resilience," she said.
