Construction in green territories of Yerevan will be prohibited, said Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan in the meeting of Public Council of Armenia regarding the problems of Yerevan.

YEREVAN, March 22. /ARKA/. Construction in green territories of Yerevan will be prohibited, said Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan in the meeting of Public Council of Armenia regarding the problems of Yerevan.

“The size of construction will be significantly reduced in Yerevan. People in Yerevan should understand that the capital is a megalopolis and it is difficult to imagine only green territories, rivers and birds in megapolis”, said Karapetyan.

Member of Public Council, director of NGO “Association for stable human development”,

ex-minister of ecology Karine Danielyan said that Yerevan turned into the zone of economic catastrophe.

“Green territories are on the verge of elimination. Construction is implemented even in green territories near schools. Parks turn into restaurants”, said Danielyan.

This issue should be under permanent attention of Yerevan authorities as the reduction of green territories seriously threatens human health. -0--
