YEREVAN, October 30. /ARKA/. The gross domestic product (GDP) in Artsakh Republic (Nagorno-Karabakh) has been growing by 9%-10% annually over the last several years, Artsakh president Bako Sahakyan said in an interview with Voeny Diplomat (Military Diplomat) edition.
In his words, the most rapidly developing sectors are the mining industry, hydropower, agriculture, tourism and banking sectors.
According to him, Artsakah authorities have created favorable conditions for investment and civilized business, resulting in increased foreign investment channeled into various sectors of the economy.
"We also pay special attention to education and culture, considering that the greatest wealth of our people is their intellectual potential and spiritual values, which must always be preserved and developed," Saakyan said.
He said that Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora trinity is one of the key components of statehood, a guarantee of Artsakh’s security and progressive development.
"Through the effective participation of Armenia and the Diaspora we have restored our economy that was completely destroyed due to the aggression of Azerbaijan in 1991-1994. Armenia and the Diaspora are actually involved in every strategic project implemented in our republic, said Sahakyan.
He said the Armenian Diaspora has a huge economic and business potential, and there is still a wide enough field of activity for expanding its participation in the development of Artsakh. "We will continue to work in this direction," Sahakyan said. -0-
