YEREVAN, October 1. /ARKA/. On September 30, the Scientific-Methodological Council under the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia unanimously approved the renovation concept for the former Ministry of Foreign Affairs building. Located on Republic Square in Yerevan, the building is owned by Corporacion America Airports.

According to the press service of Armenia International Airports, the concept was developed in collaboration with the world-renowned London-based architecture and design firm Foster + Partners and the Armenian architectural bureau Quadrum Architectural Office, which possesses extensive experience in the restoration of historical buildings.

The project entails transforming the existing structure into a mixed-use complex featuring hotel, residential, office, and retail spaces, as well as new public areas.

The approval followed approximately 18 months of close cooperation between the architectural teams and the Scientific-Methodological Council. During this period, the concept was progressively refined through constructive dialogue, incorporating the Council's suggestions and feedback.

Particular attention was paid to preserving the building's architectural and historical value, as well as its unique heritage elements.

With the concept now approved, the project moves to the next stage of development.

"Our goal is to breathe new life into this significant building while preserving its historical identity and its direct connection to Republic Square, creating a modern and vibrant environment for residents and visitors alike," said Martin Eurnekian, CEO of Corporacion America Airports. The overall investment program entails an investment of over $150 million.

Through high-quality architectural design and the transformation of one of the city's most significant buildings, the project aims to become a new landmark for Yerevan and to bolster the city's growing status as an international cultural and tourism destination.

The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, constructed in the 1940s, is located on Republic Square in the heart of Yerevan. The building has a total area of 14,241.9 square meters.
