PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN ARMENIA HELD IN ATMOSPHERE OF EQUAL COMPETITIVE STRUGGLE

The parliamentary elections in Armenia were held in the atmosphere of equal competitive struggle, Chairman of the Central Election Committee of Armenia Garegin Azaryan reported at the meeting of the Constitutional Court of Armenia Thursday.
YEREVAN, June 7. /ARKA/. The parliamentary elections in Armenia were held in the atmosphere of equal competitive struggle, Chairman of the Central Election Committee of Armenia Garegin Azaryan reported at the meeting of the Constitutional Court of Armenia Thursday.
"Equal conditions were created for political struggle for all the political parties and a bloc, running for the parliamentary elections," he said. According to Azaryan, declarations of the opposition's representatives about discrimination and the fact that the ground for inequality were meetings of Armenian Prime Minister with the population are not well-justified.
"The Armenian legislation does rule out a possibility meetings between the prime minister and the population. In addition, they can be regarded as election campaign," he reported.
At the same time, Azaryan pointed out that the rumors about meetings of the CEC chairman with the prime minister, organized for discussion of the parliamentary elections, do not represent the facts.
The Constitutional court of Armenia commenced the proceeding on appealing the results of the parliamentary elections under party-lists, challenged by Republic, New Times, Orinats Yerkir parties and Impeachment bloc. The defendant is the Central Election Committee of Armenia.
The Armenian Prosecutor's Office, Armenian Police, the Ministry of Justice, and the National Commission for Television and Radio were engaged as additional defendants. R.O. -0—
