Amassment of Azeri troops observe din Nagorno-Karabakh

Despite the agreement on cessation of hostilities in and around Nagorno-Karabakh, reached on May 5 in Moscow as result of a meeting of Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s top army generals, amassment and active movements of Azeri troops along the contact line was observed in the early hours of May 2, the Nagorno-Karabakh defense ministry said today.
YEREVAN, May 2. /ARKA/. Despite the agreement on cessation of hostilities in and around Nagorno-Karabakh, reached on May 5 in Moscow as result of a meeting of Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s top army generals, amassment and active movements of Azeri troops along the contact line was observed in the early hours of May 2, the Nagorno-Karabakh defense ministry said today.
It said the advanced units of Karabakh defense army are closely following the moves taken by the Azerbaijani armed forces and are ready, if necessary, to resort to appropriate measures.
It also said at this moment no breaches of ceasefire were reported. The situation is completely under control of the advanced units of the defense army.
Four days of fierce clashes along the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh on April 2-5, unleashed by Azerbaijan, tens of soldiers and several civilians from both sides were killed. It was the worst escalation of the Karabakh conflict since a Russian-mediated truce signed in May of 1994.-0-
