Euronest Parliamentary Assembly adopts resolution on centenary of Armenian genocide
YEREVAN, March 17. / ARKA /. The fourth ordinary session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly in Yerevan today has adopted a resolution on the centenary of the Armenian Genocide. The resolution was endorsed by 33 votes, 4 votes were against.

According to the head of the Armenian delegation to Euronest Artak Zakarian, the main purpose of the resolution is the condemnation of human rights violations and crimes against humanity, as well as their prevention. He said none of the genocidal crimes occur in one day, and it ends only when the side that carried out the massacres admits its crime.

‘The modern Turkey, as the successor of the Ottoman Empire, should put an end to the issue of denial of the first genocide of the 20th century, by abandoning the failed attempts to rewrite the history, «said Zakarian.

"The Armenian Genocide, the Holocaust, the genocides of the Greeks, Assyrians, and other Christians of Asia Minor, the genocides in Darfur, Rwanda, Cambodia, and other such crimes must be condemned by the humanity. Before planning to exterminate the Jews Hitler said "Who remembers today of the annihilation of the Armenians", said Zakaryan.

"The adoption of the resolution will be our common contribution to the recognition of genocides", said Zakarian.

One of those who voted against was am MP from Ukraine Sergey Alekseev, who said  their position in this matter does not coincide with the Armenian, as Armenia does not support their  position on Russian aggression against Ukraine and refuses to recognize the  Holodomor.-0-
